Help with LocalLAN, the network scanner for Mac.

Please include your macOS version, the LocalLAN version (LocalLAN › About LocalLAN), and what you were doing when the problem happened. A screenshot helps — but it may show the names of devices on your network, so send one only if you're comfortable.

The Wi-Fi Networks screen is empty

macOS only lets apps list nearby Wi-Fi networks when they have Location permission. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services and turn LocalLAN on. LocalLAN uses this solely to list networks; it never reads or stores your location.

For the first few seconds of a Wi-Fi scan the list can be empty while macOS gathers results. Give it a moment before assuming something is wrong.

Devices are missing, or have no manufacturer

Switch Ports, Sites or SNMP show nothing

These LocalLAN Pro features need managed network equipment: a switch that answers SNMP, or a network divided into several subnets. On a single home network with an ordinary router they'll show an explanation of what's needed rather than data. That's expected — and it's why the Pro upgrade isn't useful for a single flat network.

Restoring LocalLAN Pro

Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID. On a new Mac, or after reinstalling, open any Pro screen and choose Restore Purchases, signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you bought it with. There's no subscription and nothing to renew.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Requirements

macOS 14.4 or later.

Privacy
