Privacy Policy

LocalLAN does not collect, transmit or sell any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party code that reports on you. Nothing about you or your network is sent to the developer.

What stays on your Mac

LocalLAN scans the network your Mac is connected to and shows you what it finds. Everything it learns stays on your Mac:

Scan results, device names and notes you add are kept on your Mac, and saved scans and reports go to a folder you choose.
Scan history, including the history kept by scheduled monitoring, is stored locally.
Switch login details (SNMP credentials) are stored in your Mac's Keychain.

To do its job, the app talks to the devices on your own local network. That traffic stays on your network.

What LocalLAN contacts on the internet

Only two things, and neither carries any information about you or your devices beyond the request itself:

The IEEE standards registry (standards-oui.ieee.org), to download its public list of which companies own which hardware address prefixes. This is how LocalLAN names the manufacturer of a device.
A public IP lookup service (ipinfo.io, falling back to api.ipify.org) — only when you press "Look up public IP" in Network Tools. It shows your internet-facing address and provider. As with any website, those services see that the request came from your address. The app never makes this request on its own.

Permissions the app asks for

Local Network — to find the devices on your network, which is what the app is for.
Location — macOS only lets apps list nearby Wi-Fi networks if they have this permission. LocalLAN uses it solely for that. It never reads, stores or transmits your location.
Notifications (optional) — so scheduled monitoring can tell you what changed. Notifications are generated on your Mac.

Purchases

LocalLAN and its one-time Pro upgrade are sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes payment; the developer never receives your payment details or Apple ID, only the aggregate sales reports Apple provides to all developers. Apple's handling of that information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children

LocalLAN collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, a change would only ever describe a new feature's behaviour — never new data collection without saying so here first.
